Dover Castle, London

Castles are huge stone or wood structures built from 1000 AD to 1300 AD. They were built to protect the king, lord or baron who lived there. The first castle was built by William the Conqueror; it is located in London and called Windsor Castle. He also built nine other castles. The one shown on the picture is one of the biggest of it's kind ever built.
