There were many different weapons and armor used back in the middle ages. Knights would have different equipment then men at arms and common soldiers.

Knight’s armor was typically chain mail, a helmet, greaves, and gauntlets. Their weapons were lances, which they used to knock other knights off their horses and swords which they used when their lances broke.

Men at arms were merely heavily armed soldiers. They had a wider range of weapons, as they used nearly every weapon in existence. They used spears, swords, battle axes, maces and everything that they could find.

Archers would be armed with longbows, crossbows and with knives. Longbows were powerful bows usually 5-6 feet in length. Crossbows were a bow fixed on a wooden stock and had immense power and accuracy, their only drawback was that they were slow to reload.
